During the first full week of instruction, I reviewed inequalities and the formulas for circles. We went over the equations to find distance. For circles, we went over the equation of a circle and how to find its radius, and midpoint. For inequalities we went over the basic rules and also how to shade the graph after plotting the points.
To practice calculating inequalities, we did an in class activity in which we would go around the room solving inequalities. We also learned how to use webassign, which is a disgrace to tradition of written work which forces the student to practice not only penmanship, but to get into the habit of showing their work which aids in remembering equations and concepts through the depiction of written work. According to phsychologicalscience.org, sciencedaily.com, boston.com and many other sources, writing by hand is proven to aid memorization.
